Second Saturday
Last Saturday my friend Cathee and I hosted the first in our series of Second Saturdays. These informational classes allow our guests to learn a little about the oils and get the opportunity to make a product (or two) to take home with them. Our first class was for Summer Essentials, outdoor spray and sun lotion!
Cathee made wonderful little informational sheets for the binders we handed out. Each of the attendants received a binder to keep and add sheets as they attend more meetings. The sheets included our contact information, a highlighted oil (citronella for our first class), and recipe sheets. She also made the cute labels, pictured above, and did an amazing job getting everything all set up.
We had such a wonderful time, meeting new friends, sharing the love of oils and creating items for our home and family that aren’t full of unpronounceable ingredients! Especially with all the news going on about not using spray sunscreen on our little ones!!!
Here are the recipes for both:
Outdoor Spray
- Fill an 8-oz spray bottle with 4-oz of distilled water
- Add 4-oz of witch hazel
- Add 10 drops of Thieves, Purification, and Peppermint oils
- Shake and Spray!
Sun Lotion
- Fill a pour top bottle with 1/4 cup coconut oil
- Add 20 drops of Carrot Seed essential oil
- Apply as needed!
For the sun lotion, you’ll be surprised to know that it is heavy duty protection! Coconut oil has 2 – 8 SPF and carrot seed is 38 – 40 SPF!! We also had copaiba, lavender, frankincense, and German Chamomile to bump up the SPF, if they so desired. We also used a pour top instead of spray for the lotion so that it is easier to use on little ones and not spray in their faces.
Let me tell you how much I love them!!!! We decided to spend the day out in the middle of Nowhere, Florida. (Otherwise known as Ginnie Springs.) It is this great little camp ground on the Santa Fe River. We met up with some family and friends to float on the river and play in the springs. It was a fabulous time!!! I brought both of the new items with me and they worked fantastic!!! I doused my 3 year old in the sun lotion and she didn’t have one pink area at all! Mommy forgot to take care of herself and ended up with pink shoulders. OOPS. The outdoor spray worked great as well. We were spraying it constantly and not one mosquito bite. It doesn’t deter flies though. BOO. Especially when you are chowin’ down on Doritos and S’Mores.
It was a gorgeous day, even with a bit of rain. Haven slept the whole way down the river, Aspen actually swam outside of a raft, and I ate loads of s’mores! S’mores? But how can I have some more if I haven’t had any yet?
You’re killin’ me, Smalls!!!
